Amanda Patricia Hawk, our angel here on earth, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 24, 2017. Amanda was born on February 11, 1989 in Houston, Texas. Amanda is survived by her father and mother, Barry Jay Hawk and Patricia Ann Hawk, her brothers Matthew William Hawk and Andrew David Hawk, her grandmother, Jean Kulp of Souderton, Pennsylvania; also, her aunts and uncles David and Jody Hawk of Bellaire, Texas; Steve and Linda Taylor of Bedminster, Pennsylvania; John and Sue Levy of Hilltown, Pennsylvania; Dan and Jane Wilson of San Antonio, Texas; and Chris and Michelle Carr of Souderton, Pennsylvania. Numerous cousins, Rachel, Joshua, Daniel, Rebecca, Hannah, Vanessa, Brendan, Juliet, Anne Marie, Sam, Kyle, Ian, Ariel and Alex; and second cousins Riley, Oliver, Colton and Ava. She was preceded in death by her grandparents William and Jane Carr of Hilltown, Pennsylvania, Roy C. Kulp of Hatfield, Pennsylvania, and great grandmother Pauline G. Smith of Hatfield, Pennsylvania.
Amanda loved her family, especially her brothers, her dog Gunner and music. She inspired all those who had the privilege to know her with her courage and beautiful smile. She was also unconditionally loved by her parents, brothers, and family.
Her parents thank our Lord, Jesus Christ, for trusting them to take care of Amanda and rejoice that she is now an angel in Heaven.
Special thanks to all of Amanda's caregivers - doctors, nurses, staff - at Methodist Hospital in the Houston Medical Center, and doctors with the Houston Medical Group. Special thanks to Dr. Peter Schwarz who was tireless in his pursuits to help Amanda. The family is also thankful for the love and support from all family and friends provided during this difficult time, and to Houston Hospice for the compassionate care Amanda received at the end of her life.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 29th, at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnett St., Bellaire Texas, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 30th, at St. John Divine Episcopal Church, 2450 River Oaks Blvd., Houston, Texas 77019, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for contributions to be made in Amanda's memory to St. Thomas Episcopal Church and School, 4900 Jackwood Street, Houston Texas 77096, to assist in the recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey.
