Anne Waters Westfield great-grandmother and retired educator, was active at St. Helen's Church, 98 Anne Waters, 98, of Westfield, N.J., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sept. 16, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Helen's Church, Westfield. Friends may visit Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave., Westfield, on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery Westfield. Anne was a 6th grade teacher in Cranford, N.J., for 24 years, retiring in 1982. She was a graduate from Jersey City State College (NJCU) and earned a master's from Rutgers University. She was a very active member of the NJ Education Association and National Education Association. Anne was a founding member of St. Helen's Church in Westfield and very active in the church and funeral ministry. Born and raised in Bayonne, N.J., she had lived in Westfield since 1953. She was the beloved wife of the late James J. Waters (2000); devoted mother of the Reverend Philip Waters, Suzanne Crane, David Waters, Christopher Waters, Robert Waters and Richard Waters; and loving sister of Catherine Zec and was predeceased by one brother and three sisters. She will be deeply missed by her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Please make donations in her memory to the Helping Hands and Hearts of St. Helen's Church.
