Alma R. Laing West Orange homemaker, took great pride in her family Alma R. Laing (nee Spicer), 90, of West Orange, N.J., surrounded by her loving family, peacefully went home to her heavenly father on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, from 3 to 7 p.m. at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main St., West Orange. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave., West Orange. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave., East Hanover, N.J. Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerfuneralhome.com. Born in Montclair, N.J., Alma was a lifelong resident of the Oranges. She was a homemaker and took great pride in raising her seven children. She was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Church Cana, the Rosary Altar Society, and the Good & Peace Corner. Alma was also a member of the Christian Foundation for Ministry. She was an original member of the West Orange Historical Society, studied watercolor arts at the Montclair Museum, and was the children's librarian for the Township of West Orange. Alma was the beloved wife of the late Captain William L. Laing; devoted mother of William L., Joseph P., Mary Laing Robinson, James, Alma Amendola, and the late Colleen Fegan and Rene Laing; loving sister of William E. Spicer III, and the late Joan DeSarno; cherished grandmother of 14, and great-grandmother of seven. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
