Alan Ferdinand Volle Proud veteran who was always willing to help others Alan Ferdinand Volle, 69, of Randolph, N.J., died on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at the New Jersey Veterans Hospital, East Orange, N.J. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (Tuttlefh.com) from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with a funeral service to follow. Alan was born in Newark, N.J., to the late Ferdinand and Mabel Volle (nee Inverarity) on July 29, 1948. He graduated from Parsippany High School in 1966. He attended Newark College of Engineering. He left college to join the Army. He attained the rank of staff sergeant and served in the Army Corps of Engineers stationed in Vietnam. After an honorable discharge, he became a proud veteran of both the U.S. Army National Guard and Reserve. Alan received his associate's degree from Morris County College and worked for several engineering and construction companies. Alan was an outdoor enthusiast enjoying activities such as canoeing, camping, and taking trips with his friends. He was an avid reader and had a love of history, especially the Civil War. Most of all he was a humanist. He was always willing to help family and friends with a variety of construction related projects. He would help everyone - even strangers in need. Alan is survived by his sister, Jill Rimol and her husband, Andy, of Randolph; his aunt, Jane Rissland; nephews, Andy and Brian, and cousins, daughter and friends. In lieu of flowers donations in Alan's memory may be made to VANJ Health Care System, The General Post Fund, East Orange Campus, 385 Tremont Ave., East Orange, N.J. 07018.
