Alejandro "Alex" Banaag AguilarAlejandro ("Alex") Banaag Aguilar died on August 21, 2017 after a prolonged illness. He was 87 years old.

Mr. Aguilar was born on November 9, 1929 to his parents, Pablo and Igmedia Aguilar in Davao City, Philippines. He was one of seven children. He attended the University of the East in Manila Philippines, received his degree in Accounting and became a CPA. He married Cecilia Palugod Aguilar in 1962 and had three children. Mr. Aguilar moved to San Francisco in 1970 to provide his family a better life and the rest of the family joined him in 1972. He worked as the Head Accountant at Laguna Honda Hospital for many years and retired in 1992.

Mr. Aguilar is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cecilia, their three daughters Alicia (Dan) Loube, Bella (Tim) Driscoll, and Carina (Richard) Rivera, and three grandchildren Alexander Loube, Russell Loube, and Bianca Rivera. Mr. Aguilar is also survived by his one remaining sibling, Consuelo Aguilar and many nieces and nephews.

His family loved him and will dearly miss his dry sense of humor, feisty spirit and principled values.

A private memorial service will be held to remember Mr. Aguilar. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that a contribution in Mr. Aguilar's name be donated to the American Liver Foundation (http://www.liverfoundation.org/), the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (www.alzfnd.org/) or the (http://www.diabetes.org/).
