Benedetto 'Benny' D'Angelo Talented gardener, cherished grandfather, retired from PSE&G Benedetto "Benny" N. D'Angelo of New Providence, N.J., passed away on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at the age of 83. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Monday, Sept. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, N.J. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, Sept 5, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Church, South St., New Providence. Entombment will follow at St. Teresa's Mausoleum, Summit, N.J. Please visit ippolitofuneralhomes.com for additional information and to send condolences. Benedetto was born and grew up in Colle d'Anchise, Italy. He was the son of Carmela and Domenico D'Angelo. At age 17 he moved to the United States and was a longtime resident of New Providence. Benedetto was employed at PSE&G in Maplewood, N.J., until his retirement. He was a member of the William Paca Club and a former member of the Mt. Carmel Society. Benedetto was a talented gardener, enjoyed bowling, playing cards and bocce. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Carmela D'Angelo; their children, Dominick D'Angelo, Carmelina "Linda" Ruedisueli (Laurence) and Bettena "Tina" D'Angelo (Tom Brendle); his brother, Antonio "Toni" D'Angelo; and cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn Pepe and Jessica Lanfare (Christopher). He was predeceased by his siblings, Colomba, Guiseppe, Antoinette, Miguel and Nicola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Benedetto's memory to Sage Eldercare, 290 Broad St., Summit, N.J. 07901.
