Lindale-Alice Cavender Cooper, 84, passed away Thursday August 17, 2017 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, TX. Visitation will be held Monday August 21, 2017 12pm-2pm at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, TX., with services following at 2pm. Interment will follow at Akers Cemetery in Sherman. Funeral Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman. Officiating ministers are Sam Cooper and Ryan Cernero.
Alice was born January 19, 1933, in Southmayd, TX, to the late James Franklin Cavender and Edith Carolene (Keller) Cavender. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1951, and was a majorette in the High School marching band, where she won numerous awards and medals.
Alice was an active member and treasurer of The Bridge Church in Lindale, Texas, and former member of Life Tabernacle in Houston for over 30 years where she served as hostess and greeter, welcoming members and guests alike with her warm smile and open heart.
After retiring from the City of Houston she worked as an executive secretary at Texas Crude Oil until her retirement at age 79. Alice created a lifetime of memories for her family. Birthdays and holidays were always very special with her, but nothing meant more to her than Sunday dinner around the table.
Alice is survived by her sons; Glenn Cooper and wife Cheryl of Sherman, Tx, Sam Cooper and wife Sandy of Lindale, Tx. Grandchildren Johnathan Cooper and wife Jenn, Brandon Cooper, Shana Cooper, Rachael Phillips and husband Scott, Rebecca Gregory and husband Jay, Samuel Cooper. Great grandchildren Christopher, Lauren, Jimie, Nicholas, Cynthia, Zoey, Haylie Rachelle, Lauren Grace, Katelyn, Luke, and Andrew. One brother in-law James Cooper, and sisters in-law Linda Watson and Linda Cavender. Many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Margaret Bateman; two brothers, Charles Cavender and Harvey Cavender.
