December 18, 1924 - August 6, 2017 Arthur "Art" Angelo Bovero, 92, of Westchester, CA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2017 in Marina Del Rey. Art was born December 18, 1924 in Venice, California, to John and Vilma Bovero. He worked at the family business, Bovero's Feed and Seed and later Bovero's Florist while growing up and as an adult. He played drums from an early age and performed both at school and at events with professional bands and orchestras. Art attended Venice High School and joined the Army during WWII where he served as a Medic in the Americal Division on the Solomon Islands. After returning from the war, Art attended Cal Poly University at both the San Luis Obispo and Pomona campuses. He earned his degree and teaching credential and taught at LA Unified School District until his retirement. Art's first teaching job was at Airport Junior High School, in Westchester, where he taught Agriculture, Biology, and Health. Art was a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher. After the closing of Airport Junior High, Art taught Driver's Training at numerous schools throughout the LAUSD system. After retirement from LAUSD, Art volunteered as a Traveler's Aid at LAX. He and his wife, Esther, loved to travel and took numerous trips and cruises to destinations around the globe. Art also enjoyed gardening and stained glass. Arthur is survived by his three children, Michael and his wife Kim, Michele, and Lisa, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several stepchildren and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Emilia, brother, Carl, and wife, Esther. A kind and gentle man, Art was dedicated to his friends and family throughout his long lifetime. He will be greatly missed and the rich legacy he left to his family will forever continue to live in their hearts. A memorial service and mass will be held on August 26 at 12:15 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City.
