May 22, 1971 - August 11, 2017 For 25 years Alex was President of Operations for two of this nation's longest running, most successful nightclubs, Circus Disco and Arena Cafe. Alex was the first Hispanic elected to the Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council which he served on for 8 years. Alex was a well-known philanthropist founding the very first HIV/AIDS clinic in Tijuana and supporting many other worthwhile charities. He was an accomplished musician and well-known Mariachi singer. Alex performed often at the clubs to the delight of his fans. Alex La Pietra passed peacefully from cancer and complications from pneumonia surrounded by family and loved ones. His passing was much too soon. Alex is survived by his husband of 25 years, Eugene La Pietra, his sons Asa Herrera and Alwin La Pietra, his niece Janay La Pietra, his grandchildren Cody, Gavin, Audrey, and King Nicolas, as well as a huge extended family in the US and Mexico. Viewing for Alex will be Friday, August 18th, 5:30 to 9pm at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. Services will be Saturday, August 19th at Forest Lawn Hollywood HIlls in the Old North Church at 5pm. Reception to follow at Wilson Harding Clubhouse in Griffith Park. Last New Year's Eve Alex sang "I Did It My Way" to the sold-out crowd at the closing of Circus and Arena. Never were words more true, Alex did it his way.
