ALEXANDER FRIEDMAN (Age 95)  
Alexander Friedman of Montgomery Village, MD, formerly of Silver Spring, MD, passed away on June 18, 2017. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris Friedman for 73 years. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie (Dick) Miller; grandaughter Stacy (Andrew) Field; great-granddaughters, Emily, Abby and Bella Field; sister-in-law Cynthia (Maxwell) Littwitz and nephew David (Iris) Littwitz. Al was a World War II veteran who enlisted a month after Pearl Harbor and saw action on D-Day in Normandy. He also served in the Korean War. He was wounded twice and received a Purple Heart and other military decorations and citations. After leaving the military he went to work for Metro. After retiring from Metro he volunteered with his wife for 18 years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. They both received special recognition for earning the Presidential Volunteer Service Gold Medal. A memorial service will be held at Pumphrey's Colonial Funeral Home, 300 W. Montgomery Ave.(Rt. 28, exit 6-A just off I-270) Rockville, MD on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 10 a.m. After the memorial service, the family will receive family and friends at the home of Stacy and Andrew Field. Burial will be on Wednesday, August 16,2017 at 11 a.m., Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Walter Reed Society,8901 Wisconsin Ave.#303, Bethesda, MD 20889.
