February 27, 1925 - July 18, 2017 Alexandros Liakopoulos (92) passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at his home in Walnut Park, California. He was born in Nemea, Greece on February 27, 1925 to Panagioti and Georgia Liakopoulos. He was the oldest of 7 children and he helped his father manage the family land in Koutsi, Greece. In 1959, he married Eleni Rahaniotis of Skotini, Greece. Children quickly followed. First Georgia, then Peter, and Tom. Alex immigrated to the United States in 1969 with his wife and three children where he worked in the fast food industry for many years. He was a kind hearted gentle man who loved his family and friends dearly. His energy was contagious and he was always the life of the party. He loved his daily walks, was a great dancer, constant reader, and avid debater. Alex is survived by his wife of 57 years Eleni; his three children, Georgia Covell, Panagiotis Liakopoulos and Anastasios Liakopoulos and their spouses David and Dimitra; his 4 grandchildren, Andrew and Nefeli Liakopoulos, Matthew and James Covell; and his great-granddaughter, McKenzie Liakopoulos. The Trisagion service will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 26, 2017. Both services will be conducted at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 10830 Downey Avenue, Downey, CA 90241. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Saint George Greek Orthodox Church.
