Professor of History Emeritus, Columbia University, died June 6, 2017. Survived by wife, Suzanne Harpole Embree; children, Ralph Thomas Embree (Diana) and Margot Embree Fisher (Mark Fisher); grandchildren, Peter Embree, Andrew Embree (Elena Nalivkina), Catherine, Sarah and Emily Fisher; and step-grandchildren, Daniel Ceresi (Ami) and Nicole Ceresi Friedrich. Memorial service Saturday July 29 at 2 p.m., Collington Life Care Community Chapel, 10450 Lottsford Road, Mitchellville, MD followed by a reception at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to or the International Rescue Committee.
