Amy W. BlakemanAmy W. Blakeman died peacefully in Shelburne, VT on July 7, 2017. She was 87. Amy was born in Jacksonville, FL, on September 20, 1929, to William H. and Mildred E. Watkins. Amy graduated from Salem Academy, Winston Salem, NC in 1947. She attended Western College for Women in Oxford, OH and later transferred to the University of Georgia. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She received her BA in English in 1951.

Amy moved to San Francisco in 1954 and married Byron E. Blakeman July 15, 1955. Amy lived in San Francisco for 60 years. She raised three children- Wendy, Douglas and William- with Byron and was a life long member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. She loved animals and she loved to travel.

Amy moved to Montpelier, Vermont in 2014 to be closer to family. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Barre, VT.

Amy Blakeman is survived by her daughter, Wendy Blakeman, Montpelier, VT and son, William H. Blakeman, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Oak, Stephanie, Mark and Erik; and 4 great grand children. Amy was predeceased by her son Douglas in 1991 and husband Byron in 2001.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 19, at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel, Calvary Presbyterian Church, San Francisco. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Project Open Hand and the SF SPCA.
