Alvin Joseph Ecker, 94, passed away July 15, 2017 in Salt Lake City. He was born June 23, 1923 in Stanford, Montana to Andrew Olson and Anna Mitilda Knudtson Ecker.
He graduated from Stanford High School in 1943 where he excelled and participated in football, basketball and track earning 12 varsity letters.
Upon graduating from High School he entered the service in the U.S. Army serving faithfully until injured. He returned to Montana and went to work as a supervisor at East Base (now known as Malmstrom Air Force Base) in Great Falls in the tubing and cable division for the air planes. He married Mina Mae Harris on August 11, 1946 in Great Falls, Montana at the Croxford Funeral Home Chapel. Marriage latter solemnized in the Cardston Alberta LDS Temple. Dad served in many positions in the church and touched many lives through his service.
Dad loved Figure Skating where he performed in many ice shows in Montana. Dad worked as a carpenter and construction superintendent in Great Falls working for Leigland Construction until they closed, and than for Lee Nelson Construction and finished his career working for Volk Construction. He was involved in building many commercial buildings in the Great Falls area. During his retirement years they decided to move to Salt Lake City, Utah to be closer to family that had moved to Utah. Dad spent many hours helping their children remodel their homes and anything else that needed attention. Dad was very talented in all things.
Dad is survived by his wife of almost 71 years and his children, Randal (Mary Jo), Rodney (Deceased) Denise, Reg V. (Billie Jo), Rochelle Gallup(Dallas, Deceased); 17 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by, parents, 7 brothers, 1 sister, son Rodney, grandson Brodie, son-in-law Dallas.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday July 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel 3401 South Highland Drive. Viewing will be from 9:30 - 10:45 AM prior to services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
