Alice Jane Bullick 1925 - 2017On June 26, 2017 Alice Jane Bullick (92) died at home in Sonoma, California. She told us that her life was just beginning.
Alice was born in Moriarty, NM on April 21, 1925 the second child of George and Edith Marsh, joining her sister Martha. Two years later the family moved to San Diego, CA. Alice's youngest brother Wilbur (aka Bill) was born in 1932.
Alice attended nursing school at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). In San Francisco she met Bill Bullick. Bill and Alice were married in 1949. In 1950, after the birth of their first son Don, they went to work at Sheldon Jackson Junior College (SJJC), a boarding school in Sitka, Alaska. During their time at SJJC, Alice gave birth to Les (1952) and Brian (1955). Alice worked as a nurse at the school infirmary and took a second job at a long term care facility called Pioneer Home. In 1961 the family returned to San Francisco and joined Lakeside Presbyterian Church, where Alice remained a member for the rest of her life. Alice continued her nursing career at UCSF, becoming one of the first generation of OB/GYN nurse practitioners. After they retired in 1985, Alice and Bill spent their time traveling and tracing Alice's family back to the Mayflower. But the historical connections were less important to Alice than the personal relationships she made, which included Bill's family in Canada, Northern Ireland, and South Africa. Bill died in 1998. A few years later, Alice moved to Sonoma where she made new friends and continued to exchange visits and deepen the connections she had with her family. Alice is predeceased by her parents, her husband Bill, her sister Martha Anderson, and her daughters-in-law Penny Gray and Mary Glennon Bullick. She is survived by her brother Wilbur (Louise), sons Don (Laurel), Les (Patty) and Brian (Eithne); grandchildren Kelsy, Nicole, Teal and Junco; and great grandchildren Audrey Jane, Landon and Liam. At any small kindness Alice would say, "Ohhh! I am so blessed!" It is we who loved and were loved by Alice who are and always will be blessed.
