Bette L. Scott Abbey was born June 1, 1925 in Chicago, to her parents Bishop and Florence Scott. She attended Englewood High School, where Bette met her husband. In May of 1944, Leon and Bette married, and later became the parents of two sons, Leon Bernard and Michael James. After Bette and Leon retired, they traveled. They spent winters in Acapulco, Mexico and Roswell, New Mexico. Bette and Leon were married over 50 years until Leon's death in 1996. Bette departed this life Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Bette is survived by sons Leon Bernard (retired CPD), Michael James, and daughter-in-law Betsy; six grandchildren Whitney, Melynda, Antoinette, Fabian, Leon Ivan and Esteban Bernard; three great-grandchildren Fabian Osiel, Idalia and Landon Christopher; niece Carolyn and cousin Reggie.
