BELANGER, Annette Martha Annette Martha Belanger was called home to our Lord on the morning of May 10, 2017. With her son, Jeffrey at her side, she left peacefully after a short, painless battle with cancer. Annette, aka "Nettie"/"Mommie Jon", was the first in her family born in United States on June 30, 1945. Her parents, Erwin and Martha Erntsberger came from Germany with her older sister, Ella, and settled in Fairfield, New Jersey. With Annette's loving and caring nature, it's perfect that she was a nurse for over 50 years. She started her career in New Jersey, then was a nurse during the Vietnam War in US Army Fort Campbell, Kentucky. She went back to continue her career in New Jersey after she met and married her husband Roland "Ron" Belanger. After both her sons were born, Annette and Ron moved to Houston with Erik and Jeff, where she continued her career at the Methodist Hospital. This is where she obtained her BSN in nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center. The Belangers moved to Dallas in the mid-1980s, where Annette flourished in her career working as Staff RN at Medical City. Annette also volunteered her nursing skills at various clinics in addition to the hours she spent at her employment. She and Ron also gave their time to various charitable organizations, such as Meals on Wheels. Annette also humbly received several awards, the highest honor being the 2002 Nurse of the Year for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. She was nominated and voted on by the other employees at the hospital. Annette met her beloved husband, Roland Belanger, during the years of the Vietnam War when he was in Kentucky on leave. They were both from New Jersey, but fate brought them together in Kentucky, where Annette caught Ronnie's eye with her combat boots while playing pool at the tavern on base. He couldn't forget her - who could ever? - and asked her to marry him after they met in Hawaii after his 13 month tour. Hawaii was always was a favorite. Annette and Ron had a very special marriage, full of humor and playful banter. Their energy was magnetic and contagious. They attended church at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, had brunch, and a movie after. It was their ritual date every Sunday. Annette is survived by her son, Jeffrey Jon. In her extended family, she is survived by many nieces/nephews and cousins, as well as her sister-in-law, Denise Belanger. There are many who love Annette and consider her as family, she will be greatly missed. Annette is preceded by her husband, Roland Anthony Belanger on August 4th 2014, and her older son, Erik Jason Belanger on November 1, 1997. She is also preceded by her parents, Martha and Erwin Ernstberger and her sister, Ella. She is now reunited with them in heaven for eternal peace. Annette Belanger's viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 17th at 6:00PM at Restland Funeral Home at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas 75243. The funeral will be at the same location at 12 noon on Thursday, the burial to follow at 2PM at the Dallas/ Fort Worth National Cemetery. Annette will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Roland Belanger, where there will be a short graveside service at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway Dallas, TX 75211. A bugler will play "Taps" and the 21 gun salute will be performed in her honor. Following the funeral, there will be a gathering at Spring Park Country Club in Garland, Texas of off Spring Parkway from 4 to 6 PM. As Nettie always said, "In lieu of flowers, please donate to ". We think she would want the same in her memory. Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
