Anne BarsamianOctober 20, 1923 - May 13, 2017Anne Barsamian was born on October 20, 1923 in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Armenian immigrants Asador and Yeghsig Kaprelian. Anne and her older sister, Sophie, grew up surrounded by family. Anne met her husband, Pete, whose family was from the same village in Armenia, and it was love at first sight. They married in 1949 and moved to Richmond, CA to begin their life together. They started their family right away and soon Anne was a very busy mother of four. Anne was the consummate housewife and mother. They moved to El Cerrito where Anne was active in the PTA, Cub Scouts, and her church, St. Vartan's Armenian Apostolic Church in Oakland. Anne held many positions on the Ladies Society board as well as being an officer of the Parish Assembly. She taught herself to cook Armenian food and was surprised to find how popular her dishes were; eventually compiling a cookbook of family favorite recipes for her children and grandchildren. Shortly after the family moved into their big house in the hills, Anne and Pete became members of Mira Vista Country Club. Anne reestablished her interest in golf and became an avid competitor, playing until almost 90. She and Pete took many trips that included golfing at some of the country's finest courses and they both got a hole in one on the same hole at Mira Vista! In addition, she continued to live independently and drive herself--something she was very proud of! Anne's hobbies included knitting, sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, and being a whiz at Wheel of Fortune.
Anne is preceded in death by her husband Pete. She is survived by her family: Gayle (David), Betty and Tyler, Paul (Denise) and Laila, Delaney, and Ali, Peter (Pat) and Paul and Page. She is also survived by sister, Sophie Bedrosian and her son, Brian and family.
