November 12, 1925 - May 6, 2017 Betty Kowalick, a retired postal supervisor, mother of six, and longtime resident of West Hills, passed away May 6 of complications related to a lengthy illness. She was 91. Betty was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on Nov. 12, 1925, the fifth of six children of Daniel and Rosanna Swarts. She relocated to Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, marrying Walter Kowalick on Nov. 3, 1947, in Aliquippa. Walter and Betty relocated to Southern California in 1956. After more than 64 years of marriage, Walter preceded Betty in death in June, 2012. Betty is survived by six adult children: Walter Frederick, Roseanna, Laurence, Alex, Patrick, and Vincent. She was preceded in death by her eldest grandson and is survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16, from 4-8 p.m. at Gates, Kingsley & Gates Praiswater Mortuary, 6909 Canoga Ave., Canoga Park. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 17, at 10 a.m. at Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 5154 DeLongpre Ave., Hollywood, with burial following at Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Chatsworth.
