Alpheus J. Norman III Raised his family in Livingston, owned Norman Florist Alpheus J. Norman III, 88, of Normandy Beach, Toms River Twp., N.J., passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, N.J. The family will receive friends Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 995 Fischer Blvd., Toms River, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. at the Parish of St. Pio, Lavallette, N.J. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. Born in Irvington, N.J., Alphy raised his family in Livingston, N.J., and spent time in the summer in Normandy from 1967 until moving there permanently 23 years ago. He also had wintered in Anna Maria Island, Fla., for many years. Alphy was a 1946 graduate of East Orange High School, where he served as class president and was co-captain of the high school's football team. Following high school, he graduated from the Montclair Academy and attended the University of Pennsylvania. Alphy was a second generation owner and operator of Norman Florist, Inc., in East Orange, N.J., and Livingston, N.J., for many years. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert A. Norman. Alphy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy (nee Buzzi) Norman; his four children, Alpheus J. Norman IV and his wife, Jeneene, Gary C. Norman and his wife, Linda, Mark P. Norman, Nancy A. Norman; four grandchildren, David, Garrett, Peter and Michael Norman, and a sister-in-law, Audrey Norman.
