Arsonia B. Gibson Elmore Senior supervisor officer at Union County Juvenile Detention Center Arsonia B. Gibson Elmore, 81, of Rahway, N.J., departed this life on April 25, 2017. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 3, at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Teman A.M.E. Church, 160 Madison Ave., Elizabeth, N.J., with Rev. George E. Britt officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Ritualistic services will be held at 7 p.m. Arrangements are in the loving care of the Nesbitt Funeral Home, 165 Madison Ave., Elizabeth, N.J. Born in Elizabeth and lovingly known as "Sonia", Mrs. Elmore moved to Rahway, N.J., several years ago. She retired in 2000 after 19 years of dedicated service to the Union County Juvenile Detention Center as a senior supervisor officer. She was a faithful member of The Star of Bethlehem Chapter No. 26 of Roselle, N.J. Sonia leaves to cherish loving and lasting memories, her children, Rochelle Manuel-Elmore, Marcella Elmore, Carolyn Elmore-Hunter, Rhea Anderson (John), and Sayon Jamieson Elmore; her loving sisters, Gwendolyn Crudup and Joan Hunter, and brother-in-law, James E. Marshall; grandchildren, Clarence Randolph Manuel (Trista), Eric Percy Williams, and Chad John Hunter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
