Ana 'Delia' Velazquez Colombrita 'She had a love affair with life' Ana "Delia" Velazquez Alvarez Colombrita, a long-time resident of New Jersey and recent transplant of Delray Beach, Fla., died Monday, April 24, 2017, at home. Born in 1925, in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, Delia, as she was most often referred to, loved life and everyone she met. She was fourth in line out of a family of 15 children and left Puerto Rico in her mid-20's. She relocated to Newark, N.J., where she worked as a seamstress and factory worker while simultaneously raising her family. At this time, a message from Ana, dust to dust, my work is done, I've gone to be with my Jesus and in a place filled with the beauty of life, music, laughter and love. I expect lots of parties, seeing lost friends and family knowing that I will see you all again someday. She had a love affair with life. Always content where she was in life and always making the best of a situation. A true believer in "when God gives you lemons - make lemonade". She loved to be around people, especially her extended family, she loved a great party and socializing and would always give you the shirt off her back, even without asking. She opened her home to everyone and strived to be the best person she could be. Instilling in her children "Haz el bien y no mires a quien" which loosely translates to - Always do good, don't worry about who benefits from it. Her smile would light up any room, her genuine warmth and caring for all of God's creatures was evident to all who knew her. She is survived by her children and their extended families, Juana Alvarez, Blanca Velazquez, Ray Alvarez, Brunilda Outen and Elvairiz Hayward, and their extended families, who have brought great joy to her later years. Memorial gifts may be made to the FAU Foundation (Ann Green Memory & Wellness Center). In memory of Ana Colombrita, 777 Glades Rd., Boca Raton, Fla. 33431-0911.
