Astrid Petrovich Sheil

Faleceu

Astrid Petrovich Sheil passed away in her sleep at home on April 11, 2017. She was 88 years young. Born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, 9-21-28, she was the youngest of six and the first in her family to attend college on the mainland. Shortly after arriving at Georgetown Visitation Junior College in Washington, DC, she met the love of her life, Theus (Ted) Sheil. They married in 1950 and settled in DC. By all accounts, Astrid and Ted had a blessed life with a huge circle of friends. Astrid loved people and made friends wherever she went. A few years after Ted passed away in 1996, Astrid met Charles Stephans, a widower, who became her constant companion and love for 16 years. They traveled extensively in Europe, and loved the horse races. They were regulars at the Surf Club and often danced late into the evening. She is survived by four children: Ted (Sue), Rita (Peter), Astrid (Anne) and Christina (Gary) and her best friend and adopted daughter, Cristina Sassi; 7 grand children: Ricky (Sarah), Astrid, Christopher (Tracy), Stephanie (Brandon), Peter, Maddie and Thea; and 8 great grand children: Carson, Cameron, Colton, Collin, James Maddie, Henley, and Wyatt. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Caballero Funeral Home, 15011 W. Dixie Highway, N. Miami, immediately followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, 11411 NW 25th Street, Doral, Florida.
