Alice R. Smith Worked at Union County Courthouse and ITT, Democratic committeewoman, 90 Alice R. Smith, 90, of Clark, N.J., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral from the Walter Johnson Funeral Home, 803 Raritan Rd., Clark, on Monday, Feb. 27, at 8:30 a.m., thence to St. John Vianney R.C. Church, Colonia, N.J., where a Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visiting hours will be on Sunday,from 2 to 6 p.m. To offer condolences, visit www.walterjohnsonfh.com. Mrs. Smith was born in Bayonne, N.J., to Matthew and Florence (Ward) Laramee. She lived in Roselle, N.J., prior to moving to Clark 42 years ago. She was a member of the Clark Seniors and the AARP, and was a committeewoman for the Democratic Party. Mrs. Smith worked in the accounting department at the Union County Courthouse for 21 years, retiring in 1991. From 1960 to 1969 she worked for ITT as an abstract clerk. Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her beloved husband, James L. Smith, and her sisters, Dorothy Colburn and Elizabeth Nowak. She is survived by her devoted children, Kevin J. Smith of New York and Maureen Hughes and her husband, Joseph, of Florida, and her cherished grandchildren, Michael and Kelly Hughes.
