Albert Eugene GordonJuly 27, 1930 - February 11, 2017Albert Eugene Gordon of San Carlos, born on July 27, 1930, died at the age of 86 on Saturday, February 11, 2017 with his loving family by his side. After a courageous battle with multiple health issues which he endured with the greatest attitude possible, he continued to be thankful every day for his many blessings.
Al grew up in San Francisco, where he attended Polytechnic High School. It was there that he met his loving wife, Dorothy, of nearly 65 years. Al was proud to be a US Marine, serving in the Korean War.
Al had a long career in management with AT&T where he met many lifelong friends. Additionally, he enjoyed his 30 years as a volunteer instructor in Hunter Safety for the CA Fish & Game Dept through the SSF Rod & Gun Club, receiving an award from the then Governor, Ronald Reagan.
In later years, Al added to his list of lifelong friends through his association with the Norcal Mini Cooper Club, often times including his grandchildren on his "mini runs".
Through his love of boating he found his Shasta Lake home to be his heaven on earth. Cruising throughout the world with Dorothy was another passion he greatly enjoyed.
Above all, Al loved his family beyond words. In addition to Dorothy, he was deeply loved and adored by his two daughters, Cheryl (Gary) Barrango and Diane (Tony) Demattei as well as his four grandchildren: Janelle, Ryan, Kristin (Staci) & Kaitlin and great grandson, Vincent. Of great importance and comfort to Al as well as his family, is our love and gratitude to the two most incredible caretakers life could send our way, Robert & Emeline, who will be a part of our family forever.
At Al's request for a "Going Away Party" his family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 25th. For details please email his family at CelebrateAlGordon@gmail.com with your name and association with Al and/or his family and we will gladly respond with the details and location of this celebration.
Donations in Al's memory can be made to Mission Hospice, 1670 S. Amphlett Blvd., San Mateo, CA 94402 (missionhospice.org)
