Alida Heiner (also known as Hermy) passed away peacefully in her home in Orem, Utah on Feb 5, 2017 at age 87, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 25, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Marie Anna deMik and William John Koew. She was the youngest of their seven children. Her parents had each immigrated to Utah from Holland with their families as teens, so her Dutch roots were strong. She attended South High School and Brigham Young Academy. She married Spencer Cragun Heiner on May 26, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Vernal, Utah. where five of their six daughters were born, then moved to Orem in 1960. Although widowed since 1988, she always remained positive and found joy in her family and in service to others. She loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and enjoyed serving in various capacities in the LDS Church. She also enjoyed working for Alpine House as a secretary for 40 years. She was an elect lady who exemplified Christ-like love through her life of service and compassion.
She is survived by her six daughters: Sandra Card (Royden), Janis Howse (Arnold, deceased), Denise Freeman (Gary), Colette Burge (David), Gaylynne Hone (Gary), and Michelle Ruward (Cory), as well as 20 grandchildren 40 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Spencer Cragun Heiner (husband), Marie Muchow (sister), William Garrett Koew (brother), Bill Koew (brother), Katherine Ross (sister), LaVon Haddaway (sister), LaVern Shirk (sister) and Joshua Freeman (grandson).
Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 11, 2017, 11 a.m. at the Hillcrest 2nd Ward, 1450 South 800 East, Orem. Friends may visit with the family Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, or Saturday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church.
