March 22, 1940 - January 18, 2017 Alfredo Y. Jose Jr., M.D., FACS of Coto de Caza, California died peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. His loving family was by his side when he passed. Dr. Jose was born on March 22, 1940 in Manila, the Philippines. He attended medical school in Manila at the University of Santo Tomas, graduating in 1962. While a surgical resident at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, he met his beloved Linda. They wed on December 16, 1967 in Buffalo, New York. Fred and Linda moved to the Los Angeles area in 1971 where he joined the Alhambra Clinic as a general surgeon. This led to his longstanding association with Garfield Medical Center that continued until his retirement from private practice in 2012. Dr. Jose's greatest passion in life was his family. This was followed by his love for the art and science of medicine and the dedication he showed to his many patients over a forty-one-year career. A larger than life figure, Dr. Jose never settled for anything but the best. Be it his love of high performance cars, fine art or Cuban cigars, second best was never an option! He is survived by his wife Linda; his son Brent and his wife Jill; his daughter Kimberly and her husband Allen and their children Taylor, Mason, Landon and Carson; his daughter Alexis and her husband Mark and their children Aiden, Jackson and Logan; his brother Augusto and his wife Teresita and their children James, Christina and Diana; and his sister Susan and her husband Luis and their son Michael.
