Amiram V. Karney

Faleceu

October 29, 1936 - January 18, 2017 Amiram V. Karney, age 80, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away suddenly on a flight to visit family. Born in Israel, Ami received a law degree from Tel Aviv University, and then joined his older brother in Los Angeles, where he completed the MBA program at UCLA. A blind date introduced him to Perla, his wife for 50 years. He began his professional life as stock broker, later owned a successful chain of soft-frozen yogurt shops, and spent time as a day trader in the commodities market. He was an enthusiastic tennis player, an adventurous fine diner, and an avid traveler. Yet as much as he wanted to see the world, he always returned grateful for the comforts of home, where his family and friends were his greatest source of joy. He was a devoted father to Benjamin and Anessa, and took pride in the accomplishments of his grandchildren Alexandra, Justin, Kyra, Daniella, and Gabriel. He will be remembered for his sensitive soul, his fierce loyalty, his steadfast dependability, his skill giving a toast, his readiness with a joke, and his heart, which he wore on his sleeve. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 22, 2017; 2:00 p.m. at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery, 6001 W. Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90045. (310) 641-0707. Donations in honor of Ami may be made to the Dortort Center for Creativity in the Arts at UCLA Hillel, 574 Hilgard Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90024.
