AUSTIN, Alton "Lynn" Alton "Lynn" Austin: born April 25,1940 to Ernest and Mollie Belle Austin in Charleston, WV, passed away January 14, 2017. He graduated from Great Bend High School in Kansas and from the University of Oklahoma where he received a BBA degree. He served as a Lieutenant in the US Army stationed in Birmingham AL. Lynn was an avid Sooner fan and a OU football trivia expert! Other hobbies included riding his Vespa scooter, foreign travel, tutoring elementary students, coaching youth sports and many service clubs in the Lake Highlands community.He had a heart for missions and found his true calling teaching Bible School in Cuba for many years. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Molllie Belle Austin and his sister Gloria Austin Merritt. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon May Austin, daughter Marcee Austin Taylor (Gary) of Ridgewood NJ, son Matt Austin (Karen) of Dallas, and most importantly his 4 precocious grandchildren: Caroline and William Taylor, Katelyn and Rhett Austin. Lynn's Memorial Service will be Monday, January 23, at 11am, Wilshire Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to Wilshire Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer's Disease Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
