Alma Olga Waligura, 95, of Houston died, Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Waligura was born January 16, 1921 on a farm northeast of Hillje, Texas. Graduated Adams #1 School. She was married on November 15, 1939 in St. Andrews Church in Hillje, Texas to Charlie Waligura. Alma and Charlie were founders of St. Rose of Lima Community Living on 34th street next to Bill Mraz Ballroom. A number of years after Charlie's death, she married Richard Hoggatt and moved to Ecuador for eight years and worked for a Texaco pipeline project. She became a world traveler. On arriving back to the USA she moved into St. Cecilia's Parish. She loved to dance. She joined a number of Czech heritage Fraternals from the influence of her grandfather, Karl Peter (KJT) and her brother Victor (CHS).
Alma is preceded in death by her parents, and Brother Victor and her husband Charlie Waligura. She is survived by her sister, Hattie Drozd, Brother Leon Peter, her son, Charles and Jean Waligura, a grandson Eric Waligura and loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 form 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024, with a Vigil service at 7:00 pm and a Rosary service to follow. A Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive, Houston, TX, with a reception to follow at the church. Interment to follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the Czech Heritage Society, 4117 Willowbend Blvd, Houston, TX 77025
