ANN MITCHELL BRASFIELD  June 2, 1939 ~ December 9, 2016
Ann Mitchell Brasfield of Washington, DC, and Tampa, Florida, died in Tampa on Friday, December 9, 2016. Ann was born on June 2, 1939 in Washington, DC and grew up there, where she graduated from Horace-Mann Elementary School and the Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, MD. Ann was an accomplished artist in both oils and water-colors. She delighted all who knew her with renderings of birds, pets, landscapes, and occasional portraits. She was an artist to the tips of her fingers, and for many years created her own "designer" wardrobe and made original pieces of clothing for many friends and local celebrities. In 1971, Ann married George Frederick Brasfield of Petersburg, VA and Washington, DC, who predeceased her in 2011. They made their home in Washington, DC, where their only child, Melanie Mitchell Brasfield was born and raised. Ann's devoted sister, Josephine Moyer Woods, who predeceased her in 2014, was a long-timed resident of Tampa, where Ann came to reside in 2009. Ann is survived by her son, Richard Graham, III; her daughter, Melanie Brasfield Blonshine; her son-in-law, Kevin Lee Blonshine, and her only grandchild, Wyatt Farnandis Blonshine. Her funeral will be held at the St. Alban's Parish in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 1 p.m.
