1941 - 2016
Abraham Dermenjian, 75, of Ridgefield NJ, passed away the morning of December 28th after a long battle with prostate cancer. Abraham, known as "Apo" by his family and "Abie" by his closest friends, was born in Aleppo, Syria on August 28th,1941. Abraham went to the Mkhitarian School in Aleppo, and after graduating, went on to become an automotive technician. In 1958, he moved with his family to Beirut, Lebanon where he met and married his wife, Hermine Istanboullian, in 1972. They were blessed twice with the births of their children, Anita and Harout, and created a happy family.

In 1978, Abraham moved his family to the United States to get away from the war in the middle east. They established their roots in Ridgefield, NJ and at the same time, Abraham switched careers and became a Jeweler in New York City's diamond district.

Abraham was the eldest child of Haroutyoun and Anahid Dermenjian. Abraham was a caring, loving husband to Hermine, proud and devoted father to Anita and Harout, supportive brother to his younger brother and sister, Hagop and Seta, his nephews Vatche, Yervant, Serge and Arthur, loving son-in-law to the late Hagop and Zaroohi Istanboullian and loved father-in-law to Jack.

Abraham's love and affection for his 3 granddaughters, Elisabeth, Sophia and Grace were beyond what words can explain.

Abraham devoted his life to his family, his church and the Armenian community. He devoted 30 years of his life to his beloved Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Church and served at its mercy unconditionally in a variety of roles, including its Chairman.

Abraham was loving, caring, honest; a person of character and a man of his word. He was a one of a kind father, brother, grandfather, husband and friend and can never be replaced.

The Dermenjian family would especially like to acknowledge the Villa Marie Claire Residential Hospice in Saddle River, NJ, Dr. Charles Vialotti, Dr. Luke Eyerman and the entire staff of nurses who took impeccable care of Abraham during the last month of his life.
