Bob KissickMay 15, 1928 - December 13, 2016Bob Kissick was born May 15, 1928 in San Francisco. He went to George Washington High School and then to San Jose State University where he majored in marketing and pledged Sigma Chi fraternity. Soon after graduating he was drafted into the army and sent, not to Korea, but to Heidelberg, Germany, where his business education landed him in the Army Headquarters Finance Department. While in Germany he became acquainted with Volkswagen and Porsche automobiles. He brought a 1953 Porsche 356 back to the United States and sent so many people to the Porsche-Volkswagen dealership where he had his car serviced that he was offered a job selling Volkswagens. He was a natural born salesman and manager and finally in 1975 he acquired his own partnership in a Volkswagen dealership. The dealership became Boardwalk Auto Center and took on other franchises such as Chrysler-Jeep. Boardwalk was often in the top sales ranks in the country. Bob sold his interest in the company in 2004 but found it hard to stay away. For several years he went in to 'the office' every day and helped out with mail and contracts and kept in touch with his 'family' there.
Bob and Dottie were married in July of 1954 and lived for forty years in the hills of Woodside where they raised three children. Their daughter, Cindy, has two children, Jeff and Erin. Their daughter, Karen (Troy), has two sons, Robert and Sam, and their son, Charlie (Lesley), has two daughters, Ani and Leah. Bob's children and grandchildren brought him great joy, and he brought great joy to them also with his affection and generosity.
