ANNE WAGGONER ZWEBEN
Devoted wife and mother, treasured friend and trailblazer, Anne Waggoner Zweben of Washington, DC, passed away at home on October 29, 2016.  Anne was born in Topeka, Kansas on March 11, 1936, and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, where she majored in political science. Anne moved to Washington, DC, shortly after graduation and worked on Capitol Hill. During the 1960s, she served on the legislative staff of New York Representative Judy Weis and as a speechwriter for Missouri Senator Stuart Symington. She continued her passion for politics into retirement as a longtime member of the Woman's National Democratic Club. She was also a parishoner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown, and enjoyed traveling, literature and the arts. Those who knew her well deeply miss her sharp wit, inspiring strength, kindness and empathy. A tough and confident woman, she was a source of wisdom for many. She was the beloved wife of the late Murray Zweben; loving mother of Suzanne Grady Zweben and stepmother of Lisa Zweben, Marc Zweben, the late John Zweben and Harry Zweben. She is also survived by her brother, Harry Waggoner; sister-in-law, Nancy Waggoner and their family in Memphis, Tennessee. A Mass for Anne will be celebrated at St. Peter's Parish, Kansas City, Missouri on December 14. She will be buried at Forrest Hill and Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City alongside her mother and grandparents.
