Anne H. Chomicz Former Scotch Plains resident and Merck staffer Anne H. Chomicz, 94, of Willow Valley Communities, Lancaster, Pa., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016. Relatives and friends are invited to Anne's life celebration on her 95th birthday, Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the Thomas Auditorium of Willow Valley Lakes, 300 Willow Valley Lakes Dr., Willow Street, Pa. 17584 for a 10:30 a.m. gathering followed by an 11 a.m. service. Interment will be private at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, N.J., at the convenience of family. Anne was born on Dec. 21, 1921, daughter of Daniel and Louise Heyburn. She was a graduate of Cranford (N.J.) High School and Washington School for Secretaries (New York City). She worked for Merck & Co. in Rahway, N.J., where she met her husband, Peter of Ann Arbor, Mich., a University of Michigan graduate and chemical engineer at Merck. They lived in Scotch Plains, N.J., where they raised two children, James of Maylene, Ala., and Nancy of Norristown, Pa. The family was active in the Willow Grove Presbyterian Church where Anne was a charter member since 1953, and served 14 years as church secretary. Anne moved to the Willow Valley Community in 1997, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lancaster, Pa. Anne and family enjoyed their summer home at Seaside Park, N.J. She also enjoyed quilting, counted cross stitch and calligraphy. She enjoyed traveling overseas to New Zealand, Israel, the British Isles, Iceland, Canada, and Scandinavian countries, and attended 15 Elderhostel programs throughout the U.S. She was predeceased by her husband in 1983; brother, Daniel of Cranford; daughter-in-law, Carol (Warner) of Buckhannon, W. Va., and great grandson, John Franck, Maylene, She is survived by her son, Jim Chomicz and wife, Carole of Maylene; and daughter, Nancy Chomicz of Norristown; three grandchildren, Laura (Chris) Franck; Dana (John) Cox of Knoxville, Tenn., and Doug Chomicz of Hoover, Ala., and one great-grandson, Alex Franck of Maylene; a sister, Marion Williams of Willow Valley Communities, and many nieces and nephews.
