EISENBERG--Alex "Al."

Passed away and left this earth in a peaceful, serene state, November 12th at the age of 91. Alex was born on January 13th, 1925 to Simon and Edith Eisenberg in Brooklyn, NY. He spent his childhood in Brighton Beach, which he remembered fondly, and shared with those who knew him in colorful and vivid detail. He was a reigning handball champion (a life-long passion), a longtime member of the 92nd Street Y, and a lover of the beach. Alex graduated from Lincoln High School and attended City College in New York where he graduated with a degree in accounting. His college years, however, were interrupted by the second world war in which he served in the infantry and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon completion of his degree, Alex began working at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith, first as a stockbroker and later as a bond trader and Vice President. He had a keen interest in the markets and enjoyed the business immensely. Alex is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Sue Marcus and Lisa Spielvogel, and adoring grandchildren, Julia, Steven, Bert and Adam. Our Papa has always been there for us. He has loved and taught us, played with and cared for us and endlessly entertained us. We will miss him dearly. There will be no service but Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Rd., Bronx, NY 10461.
