Barbara Curreri Lathrop

Died

Barbara Curreri Lathrop
Beloved wife and mother; business owner; led active life
Our exceptional mother, Barbara Lathrop, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, in the company of her children at her home in Bedminster, N.J.
Barbara was the beloved wife of Richard Lathrop, MD (deceased), happily married for nearly 50 years. Barbara was born on Sept. 7, 1938, in Plainfield, N.J., to Victor and Sophie Curreri. She was the youngest of three children, her loving sister, Connie Andeskie (deceased) and amazing brother, Tony Curreri. All three were great friends.
She attended Plainfield High School and graduated from Penn State with a teaching degree. She remarried in 1972, to Richard Lathrop, MD (deceased), the greatest love in all our lives. Together they merged two families.
Barbara led an active life. She volunteered with SHARE, studied interior design in Manhattan and was the co-owner of The Back Door, a downtown Somerville boutique. She loved playing golf, bridge and later in life, her new game, Mahjong (with an amazing group of girlfriends).
Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed doing her Sunday crossword puzzles. She loved being a member of RVCC, golfing with great friends and summering with family at the Jersey Shore. Once retired, Barbara and Dick wintered in Jupiter, Fla., at Jonathan's Landing.
Barbara will be deeply missed by all of her family, but especially by her eldest daughter, Alison (husband, Joseph Egan); son, Bradford (wife, Natalie) and Lesley Davis along with her amazing grandchildren, Owen and Julia Davis and Zachary and Max Ihnat.
She is survived by her loving brother, Tony Curreri (David Dennin) along with nieces, nephews and Richard's children, Linda (Norm Spencer), Ellie (Al Deichsel), Rick Lathrop (Suzanne) and Kim (Eric Stackman) and their families.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to Atlantic Visiting Nurse, 465 South St., Suite 100, Morristown, N.J. 07960, who supported Barbara and her children during a very difficult time. A celebration of Barbara's life will follow this summer when it's possible to bring family and friends together.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bongiovi Funeral Home of Raritan, N.J., 908-725-1887.
Forever in our hearts.
