Dorothy Bachman, 92, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020, at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, N.J.
Born in Bluefield, West Virginia, Dorothy moved to New Jersey at a young age and grew up in Westfield.
Dorothy graduated from Westfield High School and received her bachelor's degree from Douglass College. She taught three years of home economics, then switched to teaching nursery school in Westfield, which she did for 20 years before retiring. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Westfield, where she had served as a deacon. In her spare time, she enjoyed genealogy, rug hooking and bird watching.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, and her son, Gary. Surviving are her son, Kenneth; her daughter, Karen; and her granddaughter, Jett.
Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, on Wednesday, March 18, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Hand sanitizers for guests will be readily available throughout the funeral home.
