ROBERTSON, Catherine Cox Catherine Cox Robertson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was enfolded in God's eternal, loving embrace on December 29, 2019. She was born in Fayetteville, AR, on October 22, 1933, to Burtice Lewis and Leonila Jones Cox. She married Jack Cecil Robertson at College Hill Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, OK, on August 3, 1952, surrounded by the church family which had nurtured them from their youth. Catherine remained a member of College Hill for the rest of her life and it has been the spiritual touchstone of faith for Jack. Three of their children have been ordained and served as elders at College Hill. Married when Jack was just starting his second year at the University of Chicago (Pritzker) School of Medicine, a listing of Catherine and Jack's seven children and their birthplaces provides a glimpse of their shared life journey: Beverly, Chicago, IL; Michal, Talihina, OK; Russell and John, Chapel Hill, NC; David, Seattle, WA; Joe, St. Ignatius, MT; and Lydia, Aberdeen, SD. The family joke was, "We planned to have at least one child in every State, but when they started adding States, we gave up that goal." From Aberdeen, SD, the family's Odyssey (occasioned by Jack's career as a Medical Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service), would continue with moves to Portland, OR; Oklahoma City, OK; Tucson, AZ; Sells, AZ; Cleveland, OH; and then Richardson, TX, in 1975. From 1980-85 they spent a five-year sojourn back in Tulsa, OK, before the dust finally settled under Jack and Catherine's feet at their home in Richardson. Catherine was a professional grade homemaker! During their life together in Richardson, the Robertson family was active at Western Heights Christian Church, Garland, TX, now the United Disciples Christian Church (UDCC), Richardson, TX. Throughout her life, Catherine enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. In recent years, Catherine and Jack were regular attendees at monthly PrimeTimers gatherings of the senior citizens at UDCC. A 1951 graduate of Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, OK, Catherine attended the University of Tulsa and Hillcrest Medical Center School of Nursing in Tulsa and found time to return to college after the family moved to Richardson. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Texas Women's University in 1980, working in Tulsa and Dallas with the most vulnerable of patientsinfants in the Neonatal Intermediate Care Nursery at St John Hospital, Tulsa, and the Newborn Nursery at the Margo Perot Center for Women and Infants, Dallas. Catherine was a long-time supporter and advocate for Heifer International. Heifer is a program committed to ending hunger and poverty in the world. Catherine regularly gave gifts to Heifer of cows, pigs, and other farm animals in the name of her family at Christmas. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Jayne Stewart and her husband Harold, brother-in-law Don Henson, daughter-in-law Sue Robertson, and grandson Matthew John Patrick. Catherine is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack; her daughters Beverly and husband Matt Patrick, Michal, and Lydia; her sons Russell, John and wife Anqi Qian, David and wife Ronda, and Joe and wife Amy; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Henson, brother John Cox and wife Cheryl; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 2 p.m. at United Disciples Christian Church, 601 E. Main St., Richardson, Texas.
