Edith Bravaco (nee Lo Carro) died peacefully in her home on Dec. 10, 2019. She was 95.
A Funeral Mass will be offered today, Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, at 11:15 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Roseland, with entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. Arrangements are by Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, Roseland, www.shookfarmer.com.
Born and raised in Newark, N.J., by her parents, Joseph and Jennie Lo Carro (nee Puleo), Edith also resided in East Orange, N.J., for several years before settling in Roseland, a town that she loved, in 1972.
Edith attended West Side High School, graduating at the age of 16. After raising her family, she returned to school, earning a certificate in interior design from New York School of Design in Manhattan, N.Y. She worked for many years at Lyndel Paints and Wallpaper in Verona, N.J., before opening her own studio, Roseland Design Centre, in 1971. The store was a fixture in Roseland until she retired 17 years later.
As a parishioner of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Roseland, Edith spent several years doing volunteer work for its Social Concerns Committee. She was also a dedicated member of the Xavarians, and for over 20 years, she was an active participant in the Roseland Seniors Social Club, serving on the club's recording secretary and treasurer for a period.
Predeceased by her husband, John Bravaco, she is survived by her sons, Joseph Bravaco of Roseland, and Ralph Bravaco and his wife, Kathryn Kalinak, of Mansfield, Mass., and her granddaughter, Emily Bravaco of New York City.
She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Lo Carro of Pompton Plains, N.J., and 12 loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.
