Ann was born in Wilmington, Del., on July 14, 1934, to Anna and William Schneider. After moving to New Jersey, Ann attended Millburn's South Mountain School and Millburn High School. Returning to Delaware, Ann graduated in 1952 from Mount Pleasant High School, where she starred on the basketball team and appeared in several dramatic productions.
Ann continued on to Cornell University where she studied government with, among others, the constitutional scholar Robert Cushman and the presidential scholar Clinton Rossiter. She earned her bachelor's degree in 1956 and took a social studies teaching position in Delaware.

Ann remained at Belleville for the rest of her professional career and loved Belleville High School, its students, and faculty very deeply.
In retirement, Ann was a committed volunteer in Morristown's Literacy and Citizenship programs. She was also active in many aspects of her parish, The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Morristown. She particularly loved serving as a lector for the 7 a.m. Mass each Monday and meeting with the Bible study group. She traveled widely in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, always seeing her travels as a way to enrich her teaching as well as her own life experience.
Ann is survived by her brother, William Schneider of Palm Coast, Fla.; her sister, Helen Schneider of Morrisville, Vt.; her nephews, Tom Ryan and Gerald Ryan; and niece, Patricia Ryan and their children; special friends, Lona Scala and Dean Bennett, and many beloved friends and extended family members.
