Anthony Paul Steitz
Much loved son, grandson, and brother;JROTC member at Union High School with plans for career in National Guard
PFC Anthony Paul Steitz, age 17, of Union, N.J., died suddenly on Sunday, April 28, 2019. PFC Steitz was a Junior at Union High School and a dedicated member of the Union High School JROTC Program. PFC Steitz was an active member of the Army National Guard through its split-training option and trained one weekend per month with a local unit.
After completing his junior year of high school this June, PFC Steitz planned to spend the summer in basic combat training. Afterward he was planning to return to Union High School for his senior year. Upon graduating high school, PFC Steitz was scheduled to attend advanced individual training to prepare for his career in the National Guard. PFC Steitz was a dedicated member of the Crossroads Christian Fellowship and aspired to be a youth minister.
PFC Steitz was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, June Steitz and survived by his loving father, Gary Steitz Sr., his mother, Nicole Bollaro and companion, Bobby Van Gorten, his grandmother, Diane Cassitta, his sisters, PFC Emily Steitz, Maria Steitz, and Grace Torres, as well as three brothers, Christopher Steitz, his wife, Brittney, Gary Jr. Steitz and his wife, Kim, and Matthew Steitz and his wife, Jenna, Uncle Glenn and his wife, Patty, Mario Cassitta, and Capt., Dan Rocha, EFD[ret]. Anthony also had seven adoring nieces and nephews, Lucas, Camryn, Taylor, Gavin, Makenzie, Ryan, and Brooke Steitz.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J., on Thursday, May 2, 2019, from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Crossroads Christian Fellowship, 2815 Morris Ave., Union, N.J., on Friday, May 3, 2019, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave., Union.
