Angelo A. Spilatro
Founder of the Pelican Store in Whitehouse, 'he built his business and family with love, strength and respect'
Angelo A. Spilatro, 92, of Tewksbury Township, N.J., died Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, N.J.
Born in North Plainfield, N.J., Angelo was the son of the late Charles and Francesca Spilatro. He grew up in Plainfield, N.J., and had lived in Hunterdon County for the past 45 years.
Angelo and his first wife, Doris, started their first business, Start Right Nursery School in Green Brook, N.J., in 1952. This business was very successful. In 1956, Angelo started building the Pelican Store in Whitehouse, N.J., which over the years grew into a chain of stores located throughout New Jersey and into Pennsylvania.

He worked hard his entire life to make sure his seven children had the foundation they needed to succeed in this world. He built his business and family with love, strength and respect and he will be remembered lovingly by his employees, his friends and most of all his family.
