Grandfather of five, avid golfer who shot a double eagle
Chester "Burt" Kellogg II, 85, of Watchung N.J., formerly Westfield, N.J., passed away July 2, 2019.
Dearly loved by his family and friends, Burt was an avid golfer, and a member of the United States Golf Association Course Rating Committee, which allowed him to play numerous courses throughout New Jersey. He was a longtime member of Echo Lake Country Club, with his happiest moment occurring in August of 1991, when his second shot, with a three wood, found the cup on the par five 5th hole for a Double Eagle "Albatross."
Burt was born in Elizabeth, N.J., to Chester and Alice (Luellen) Kellogg. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Harasty and shared over 60 years of marriage with "Dottie" prior to her passing in 2017.
Burt attended The Lawrenceville School, Dartmouth College, and Columbia University. He spent his entire professional career at the A.M. Best Company, rating the world's largest insurance and reinsurance companies.
Burt enjoyed spending summers with family and friends in Normandy Beach, N.J.
He is survived by his children, Kathy Kellogg Williams (Tom), Patricia Crawford, and Peter Kellogg (Mary); his five grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Molly, Lainey, and Sean, great-granddaughter, Parker, and brothers, Daniel Kellogg (Bette) and Hugh Kellogg (Diane).
